If you tried to visit us during the past week, you may found out that we are down almost all the time. This is because of a hardware failure on the server and really took some time to restore and replace the hardware and datas. Everything should be okay right now.

And yeah, i rarely update my blog lately. I’m sorry about that, but I am having some heavy assignment and works at school, therefore I may be inactive in this month. Hopefully August would be better.

If you are a Facebook user, you may know that they have updated their chat system. As far as i know, most people hate it because they can’t view the whole online list, and it is bulky as well. Well, I have the same feeling too. It just kills the whole point of a chat system, being unable to view lots of people in your chat list that are online. However, I thought that there used to be a pop-out chatbox which disappeared after the update, and it might show the whole online list just like the old chat system did. And bingo, it works.

STEPS:

  1. Just head over to https://www.facebook.com/presence/popout.php.
  2. And you’re done.
UPDATE: Just found out a simple way to revert to the old chat list back instead of opening another tab to chat. Here’s how!
Requirements:
Google Chrome/Firefox/Opera
STEPS:
  1. Click on the browser that you’re using: Chrome Firefox Opera.
  2. Download the extention.
  3. Refresh Facebook and, tada! The classic chat list is back!
Pretty simple, eh? ;)

The long-rumoured Facebook-Skype partnership had finally got confirmed. Facebook just rolled out Video Calling, a browser-based video calling feature which allow Facebook users to have a face-to-face video chat. With help from Skype, one of the world’s biggest video calling client, Facebook made the whole feature browser-based, with users just need to download a single plugin needed to run the call, and they’re good to go.

Feeling excited about it? Head to www.facebook.com/videocalling now and click the Get Started button. You will be guided through some simple tutorials about it and eventually, the plugin to run the web app.

Rumours are everywhere speculating the release dates of Apple’s upcoming OS X Lion, iOS 5 and iPhone 5. Although Apple had already announced the expected launch period for the former two softwares on WWDC earlier this month, they left out the next generation iPhone in the event. However, an image posted by SoyaCincau, which can be seen above, shows that the next-generation iPhone, which is known as “iPhone 5″ in this document, will be released alongside with iOS 5, on September 7. The document also shows that OS X Lion will be released on July 14, which is just 2 weeks later.

Apple had already stated on WWDC that OS X Lion will be available for purchase on the Mac AppStore on July, and iOS 5 will be available this fall, so the dates mentioned above seemed pretty valid. A refresh for MacBook Air which has been speculating around will probably launch along with OS X Lion too. So if you are ready to get the new iPhone, get ready for September!

Weeks ago when I first get my hands on the all new iOS 5 BETA 1, 9to5mac.com reported the above error message shows when you disable mobile data. I immediately tried turning off mobile data and WiFi and then go to FaceTime settings on the Settings app, and this error message did appeared. As we still couldn’t get FaceTime to work with 3G in this release, rumours started to pop up everywhere saying that FaceTime is available via 3G on the final release. However, when I updated to iOS 5 BETA 2 yesterday, I found out on the release note that FaceTime is disabled for BETA 2, and that it will be activated again on the next BETA.

This could probably mean that Apple is still working on getting it usable via 3G instead of WiFi only. Most of us have experienced the moment when we are walking on the road when we receive several FaceTime missed calls and unable to call back to them. I felt that this could benefit lots of people, especially users in some countries, such as Malaysia, where public WiFi isn’t that popular. Let’s hope that in the next BETA release, FaceTime will be available on 3G as well other than just WiFi only!

Recently there is big news regarding SKMM and MCMC’s blockage of 10 file sharing sites, which ISPs did continuously blocked them recently. The list includes Warez-BB, ThePirateBay, Movie2k.to, Megavideo, PutLocker.com, DepositFiles, DuckLoad, FileServe, FilesTube and one of the biggest file sharing site out there, Megaupload. However, we just found out a quick and easy way to unblock them all. All without proxies nor VPN involved.

In this guide, we are going to use Google Public DNS. This service is completely free and won’t harm your computer in any way.

For Windows Users:

  1. Go to Control Panel.
  2. Click Network and Internet, then Network and Sharing Center, and click Change adapter settings.
  3. Select the connection for which you want to configure Google Public DNS. E.g. Wireless Network Connection or Local Area Network. Right click and click Properties.
  4. On the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and then click Properties.
  5. Click Advanced and select the DNS tab. If there are any DNS server IP addresses listed there, write them down for future reference, and remove them from this window.
  6. Select Use the following DNS server addresses. If there are any IP addresses listed in the Preferred DNS server or Alternate DNS server, write them down for future reference.
  7. Replace those addresses with the IP addresses of the Google DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
  8. Restart the connection you selected in step 3.
  9. You’re done!

For Mac OS X Users

  1. From the Apple menu, click System Preferences, then click Network.
  2. If the lock icon in the lower left-hand corner of the window is locked, click the icon to make changes, and when prompted to authenticate, enter your password.
  3. Select the connection for which you want to configure Google Public DNS. For example, Ethernet for Ethernet connection and AirPort for wireless connection. Then click Advanced… on the bottom right corner.
  4. Select the DNS tab. Click + to replace any listed addresses with, or add, the Google IP addresses at the top of the list: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
  5. Click Apply and OK.
  6. It should work now. If not, go to Terminal and type in “dscacheutil -flushcache” without quotes.

That should be it! Hope you enjoy this guide. Huge thanks to Syahmi Shaarani for providing the guide and pictures for Windows and Google’s help page as well. Any questions feel free to leave it on the comments below.
